You put it well, Priabirch. It's been true since RPG games went online. When a game first comes out it is "hot and spicy." Sales boom!
Then players, particularly elite players, complain that the hot and spicy parts are "unfair" and need to be "balanced." After enough repetitions, the game is no longer hot and spicy, indeed not spicy at all, just bland. Yet another tasteless serving of electronic meatloaf -- without gravy. Sales slump!
ANet knows this. They are trying hard to keep a balanced game, without at the same time turning it into nothing more than a summer camp pillow fight on the PvP side, and a total bore on the PvE side. They can tell from sales whether they are doing well or not.
I wish them well. There is enough electronic meatloaf around as it is.
